With the right barn and careful design, conversions are always possible. Often enabling a blend of contemporary internal design, whilst retaining the buildings from our agricultural past, in a rural environment where building plots are rare.
There are already permitted development rights for the change of use of agricultural buildings to use for commercial use. Having allowed such conversion the Government is now considering similar proposal for residential use. This appears to be coming into full effect in 2014. There will still be certain restrictions and various criteria that will need to be complied with but this may be an opportunity to realise your asset.
